Grizzly Bear

Spirit keeper of the West, Native American peoples invoked the Grizzly Bear for healing, meditation, renewal, and the means to gift great power to humans. She represents introspection and strength while dreaming of spring, and the fruits that follow. Grizzly is also hopeful of the survival of the Salmon and the watchful Eagle, as she watches Wolf greet the Frog. The large predator is different from black bears due to a hump on her shoulders. Her color is usually dark brown but can vary from very light cream to black. The long hairs on the back often have white tips and give a "grizzled" look, why she is called "grizzly." In North America, grizzly bears are found in western Canada, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Historically, they could be found from Alaska to Mexico, California to Ohio, and the grizzly bear was once common on the Great Plains. Be like the bear, and rest during winter and reawaken in the spring. Find the Ladybug, she will bring you happiness and joy!
